Adorable Girl Nursery Ideas You’ll Want to Copy
You’re having a baby girl and now it’s time to design her room…this is the fun stuff! It can be a lot to figure out where to start, so I put together all my favorite ideas to help you out.
From colors and furniture to all those pretty finishing touches, we’re going to cover it all. Consider this your go-to guide for creating a nursery that’s as sweet as she is.
The Color Revolution (Pink is NOT Your Only Option!)
After years of beige, gray and playing it safe, parents are starting to rethink what a “calm” nursery really means. And it doesn’t necessarily translate to a colorless space!

Popular Color Choices for Baby Girls:
Pink + Sage Green: This charming color combo is popping up everywhere in baby girl nursery designs. A pastel pink with sage or mint green is pretty and soothing.
Cocoa + Blush: Brown is having its biggest design moment in years. The new brown palette is warm and surprisingly fresh. Think cocoa, walnut, or light camel.
Dusty Rose + Ivory: Dusty pink remains a favorite for nurseries. Consider combining it with bright ivory. It works beautifully with both classic and modern decor styles!
Soft Blue (yes, for girls!): Blues are almost as versatile as a neutral these days, and a bright, uplifting alternative to an off-white. There’s something so soothing about this color that makes it ideal for little girls.
TIP: You can use color strategically with accent walls, textiles or artwork, rather than committing to choices that are hard to change later. Start small if you’re nervous!
The “Color Drench” Effect
If you’re ready to go all in with color, then go for the full immersion effect. Paint all four walls in an atmospheric shade and transform your nursery into a comfy cocoon.
And it doesn’t stop at walls! The ceiling is no longer an afterthought and is very much being included in design plans. Paint it, wallpaper it or even create a fun mural.
Imagine soft blush pink wrapping around the entire room like a hug. That’s what you’re going for.
The Bow Takeover
If you’ve been on social media lately, you may have noticed that a pink bow nursery is one of the prettiest trends right now. Bows are everywhere in design, wallpaper, lighting, textiles, and art. It’s both playful and charming.
Romantic bow details, scallops, and couture-inspired femininity are big right now.
Ways to add this trend:
- Bow wallpaper on an accent wall
- A dainty bow chandelier
- Scalloped crib bedding or curtains
- Bow-shaped drawer pulls
- Framed bow art prints
You can embrace the bow trend without overwhelming the room. Start with a pink bow wallpaper on crisp white, setting a whimsical foundation. A classic white crib keeps the look bright and airy.
Rooted in Nature, Made for Snuggles
If you’ve been around for a while, you’ll know that I’m always in favor of bringing the outdoors in. By incorporating natural elements like greenery, organic textures, natural light, and flowing shapes into indoor spaces, this approach creates a sense of connection to nature.
Nature themes are blooming, soft florals, organic textures, and earthy tones help create calm spaces that grow beautifully with your baby girl.
How to bring nature inside (without the bugs!):
- Natural design thrives on organic textures and warm, earthy tones. Materials like wood, rattan, bamboo, and jute also encourage tactile exploration.
- Add (safe, non-toxic) plants or quality faux greenery
- Use botanical prints or wildflower wallpaper
- Wooden elements, rattan, and seagrass are beautiful materials to source, whether it's with a rattan basket or a wooden crib.
The Furniture That You’ll Need
I personally don’t think that you need everything the baby stores are pushing. Here’s what’s I think is essential:

The Crib
First up, the crib! This is the centerpiece of the whole nursery, so it’s worth taking your time to find one you really love. Go for something solid and well-made that fits your style…sleek and modern, soft and traditional, or somewhere in between.
White is always a classic, but natural wood tones are super popular right now too.

The Nursing Chair
This is non-negotiable. You’ll live in this chair. A shearling chair is comfy and soft. While they may evoke midcentury modern, as well as Scandinavian, surroundings, the super-soft material is perfect for nurseries.
Or go for a classic glider with sturdy upholstery that feels nice on your skin.
I say skip the changing table (it becomes useless fast!). A beautiful dresser with a changing pad on top gives you storage AND a changing station.
An aged oak piece brings heirloom warmth and depth, and a weathered berry dresser adds a touch of personality.

Storage Solutions
Babies are tiny. Yet their stuff is not. Get creative with woven baskets, floating shelves, and closet organizers. All that stuff needs to go somewhere.
Your Blank Canvas Awaits
Your walls set the entire mood. Here are the options trending now:

Limewash & Plaster Finishes
Limewash and plaster walls might be your thing. These textured finishes create that “old world” romantic look that’s incredibly soothing.

Architectural Details
The architectural nursery is one of the most defining looks emerging in design. If you want that subtle character, then tone-on-tone paneling offers the perfect balance.
Rooms with vertical slatting, wainscoting, and fully wrapped paneling painted in the exact same shade as the walls create an incredibly impactful effect.

Statement Wallpaper
Wallpaper might be calling you. You have the option to paper all of the walls, or even include the ceiling in your design plans too.
Not ready for full commitment? An accent wall behind the crib still makes a huge impact.
Make it a Room You Want to Be In
This is where your room goes from “nice” to “I never want to leave.”
This is where cushions, window treatments, canopies, light shades, rugs and bedding come in. The key to creating a relaxed, yet stylish look is to use fabrics with differing textures, colors and patterns.

Must-Haves:
- A plush area rug: Soft enough for tummy time, stylish enough for your liking
- Blackout curtains: Sleep is survival. Block that light. (They come in cute patterns now!)
- Throw blankets: Draped on your nursing chair, folded in a basket
- Pillows: For a reading and cuddle nook
I imagine that you’ll also want to make it personal. Focus on items that are meaningful now and adaptable later.
This often means incorporating things like artwork, books, heirloom pieces or objects tied to personal memories. These layers give your nursery character without locking it into a single phase or interest.

Meaningful Items to Add:
- A vintage rocking horse passed down from grandma
- Custom artwork (not necessarily her name, e.g., abstract or botanical prints she can keep forever)
- A shelf of children's books
- Photos from your pregnancy or family history
- Handmade items from loved ones
